Search
Type:
KMNavigator
Engine supports three types of Search functionality. Viz., Search engine,
URL list and from a single URL. They can be selected by checking any
one of the following 3 radio buttons:
1)
Select Search Engine
2)
Select URL List
3)
From URL.
When
you perform a search you have to select any one of the options. You
can select single or multiple search engines simultaneously while searching
with search engine option.
Use
of Search Engine:
Based
on the Keywords you added or selected the Navigator Engine has to fetch
some pages. These pages are thrown by the Search Engines you have selected.
You must select at least one search engine if you have selected the
Search Engine option.
Difference
Between the three Search types:
Select
Search Engine option helps you to perform your search based on
certain Keyword/ Keywords/ Keyword Phrases. It uses web search engines
to spool the results into one place. You can select any or all Search
Engines in the list.
Select
URL List option helps you to scan only a set of URLs of your choice.
This option doesn’t depend on any Keyword/Phrase. This option is helpful,
if you wish to search through your Favorites /Book marked sites. In
such a case, open the Internet Explorer, Export favorites and Save favorites
as a .htm file. From the Navigator engine’s search tab, Browse and Select
the Favorites file (.htm file) to select your book marked web sites
/URL list.
From
URL option helps you to scan only one particular URL. This option
also doesn’t depend on Keyword/Phrase.
What
is a URL?
URL
means Universal Resource Locator. It is generally what we call as web
page address. E.g. http://www.microsoft.com
What
is a Mail-Group?
For
any search you perform, Mail-Group is nothing but a top level classification
for the overall search. It helps you to maintain uniqueness and focus
on Keyword/Phrase selection for your search

Mail Group, as CRM and list-out and select CRM related keywords such
as CRM, eRM, cCRM, ACRM, Touch point, Call center, Customer Care,
Contact management, cross sell , up sell, click stream etc. Such a
focused search helps you to get relevant and most valid Leads pertaining
to CRM space and also helps you to build relevant Knowledgebase on
CRM.
Why
Keywords are required?
To
perform a search any search engine requires relevant Keywords/Phrases
to give you appropriate results. As there are millions of web pages
in the net search engines find out pages that are relevant to those
keywords/phrases.
What
is Knowledge Map?
If
you wish to quickly build relevant and accurate information on topics
of your interest, KMNavigator can help you. You can now build info on
your competitors, customers, vendors or conduct a market research or
a literature survey; you can do so by building classified and clustered
information by date.

thrown by search results, according to your knowledge requirement. It
also helps you ease the navigation of the Knowledge Database that has
been built during the search.

categorize the content within a particular discipline area. It’s a top
level classification of the un-structured data gathered by your search.
You can cluster and group information within a Knowledgebase using Knowledge
Taxonomy.
Why
Create Favorites?
KM
Navigator helps you to create your favorite based on the keyword search
you perform.
It
actually bookmarks the main domain name (e.g.
www.microsoft.com) when a search goes on for your future reference
and saves you time and trouble from creating favorites manually.
What
is Page Timeout?
The
Navigator Engine while scanning the web pages waits for a specified
Time limit after it has made a request to the website. This limit is
known as the Page Timeout. If you have a slow internet connection you
should specify a higher Page Timeout and vice versa.
What
limit should I set for the Page Timeout?
The
Page Timeout limit is dependent on your Internet speed. You should specify
a timeout which is relevant to the speed. Slower internet speed means
more timeout value, higher speed means less timeout value. Here is a
Table for your reference:
Remember
you should have a minimum internet speed (Transfer Rate) of 4Kbps/sec.
Below
4Kbps/sec ---------------- 90 minutes Timeout (Result may not be as

           desirable in this
case)
4Kbps/sec
To 6Kbps/sec -------60 minutes Timeout
7Kbps/sec
To 10Kbps/sec -----30 minutes Timeout
Above 10Kbps/sec--------------20 minutes Timeout

Proxy servers identify and communicates with your Local system based
on the IP Address which is like a unique identifier for a system from
which a request is made.

Port on both the systems helps each other to communicate, send and receive
data.
For
CERN its generally 80 or 8080 and for SOCKS its 1080.
Can
I set the Port value to any number?
We
recommend you to keep the Port value to 80. If you are unaware of Proxy
settings consult your Administrator. Do not just change the Port value
if you are unsure or it may result into undesirable results.
Why

your Proxy server settings. It helps to logon to websites which requires
a Proxy authentication.
What
is Remote DNS?
What
does Filters do?

by itself and from the point of suspension without any data loss as
and when the connection is available.
